Well, only if you decide to attack yourself.

Or, um, trip and fall on it..

But, theoretically, you can hold the weapon and not use it, right?

But surely there are plenty of other blue things to attack with it!

You could attack the sky! Or... sneaky blueberries! Or orren wearing colors that don't appear in nature!

It's like the Heal Rod in Final Fantasy. You whack party members with it and it actually helps them.
